Diamond Hill should be a feeder school for Calhoun Falls High and Dixie High.
Based on an average of 19 students per grade Diamond Hill should be providing Calhoun Falls High with a increase of 50-60% per grade.

Average Formula:
2002 – 2007 average number of students in the 7th grade equals 238 divide the number by 6 and you get 39.666 divide this by 2 and get the average.

Change in the number of African Americans by Percentage in all high schools 10th grade based on HSAP demographics. 2003-2007.
Graphs illustrate a trend starting in 2005 -2007 that shows African-American population growing rapidly in Calhoun Falls High with a huge spike in 2005. The same trend is apparent in Abbeville High but more subtle. Gradual declines are seen in Dixie High school with strong trend downward in 2005 -2007. Demographics appear to be going two separate directions in the same county. Why?

  • Zones – the number of students in attendance at Calhoun Falls High does not meet the projected number of students that should be in attendance, it is lower than projections based on feeder school data.
  • Zones - the number of students in attendance at Dixie High does not meet the projected number of students that should be in attendance, it is higher than projections based on feeder school data.
  • Population-Shifts in student population within district suggest that zone policies are not being enforced.
  • Population-The population drop for the overall district can be explained based on feeder school data.
  • Population-The drop in individual school populations can not be explained based on the same data with the exception to school zones and transfer of students.

  • Zones – Zones should be examine to see if they are meeting the respective schools needs for population requirements.
  • Zones- Zones should be re-drawn to insure diverse population.

Projection Data Diamond Hill Elementary, Dixie High, And Calhoun Falls High
  • In 1995 Diamond Hill Elementary was built. It was decided that the school was to be a feeder school for Dixie and Calhoun Falls High. There was an understanding that when the school was built that the classes as of 1995 K5 – 7 would graduate Diamond Hill and continue to Dixie High. Starting 8 years after this agreement (2003)the graduating class would then split and feed the respective Zoned Schools based on School Board attendance zone policies.
  • Based on Feeder school Data for Dixie High and Calhoun Falls High compared with actual High school reported attendance this has not been carried out.
  • By averaging the attendance of the 7th grade class at Diamond Hill 2003-2007 we can project attendance for Dixie High and Calhoun Falls High. By adding the number of students in the 7th grade class at Diamond Hill 2003-2007 and dividing this number by 5 and divide that number by 2 an average of 19.5 (rounded to 19 for ease of calculations) students per year can be projected.
  • Projecting an increase of 19 students per 8th grade class starting in 2003 and ending in 2007 would look like the following Table.
